GO ON TOUR WITH AVERITT’S OTL TEAM

Post Date - Sep 11, 2019

At Averitt, we believe in opportunities. That’s a big reason why our drivers and their careers thrive with our better pay, generous home time options, great equipment and unmatched company culture. Another way we rise above the rest is by offering unique opportunities for our associates. Our On Tour Logistics (OTL) team is one way Averitt drivers can enjoy new and challenging experiences. This is an elite program available for internal transfer only and accepts Averitt drivers who exhibit the highest level of customer service and attention to detail.

Since we launched this service in 2012, our OTL team has successfully provided a specialized service focused on the concert and special events markets. Some current and past clients include Marvel Live, Monster Truck, Billy Idol, and Ed Sheeran. As part of this team, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in transporting and handling all types of production gear for the entertainment industry.

We have two types of loads available on this team: production and tours. Production runs are one-time moves which can either be one-way or round trips. Tours depend on the customer and can vary from a few days to up to 10 months. These are salaried positions rather than our typical cents-per-mile compensation model. An advantage of working with Averitt rather than a production company is that when there is time off from touring, our OTL drivers are able to haul regional freight in Averitt’s Truckload division to keep income steady.

Our OTL team is growing rapidly and we’re always working with our leadership to identify Averitt drivers who excel at their jobs and are willing to commit to multi-week runs. This position requires special individuals who can handle last-minute schedule changes and backing into difficult and hard-to-see spaces. Drivers also coordinate, supervise and strap/secure the show equipment (99% on wheels). Applicants must have at least three months of experience as an Averitt regional driver. Previous production experience may allow for an earlier transfer to the OTL team.

Other requirements include a positive referral from your fleet manager, good backing skills, a passport for Canadian tours and the commitment to work for an entire tour. Select qualified drivers will attend an OTL training class, which gives you an in-depth look at touring and entertainment production procedures, terminology and other aspects of production and touring.
