Many truckers opt for dedicated driving careers because of the consistent freight and predictable home time. It allows you to get to know customers and your route with no surprises along the way. But if you’re craving a little variety and unique challenges in your truck driving career, did you know that there’s a dedicated driving role that might be the perfect fit for you? Our dedicated flex driving positions might be just what you’ve been looking for. As a dedicated flex driver, you’ll have the opportunity to work with many of our dedicated route customers filling in as needed, enjoy highly competitive pay and take advantage of a flexible work schedule.
A career as a dedicated flex driver is perfect for those who like new challenges and opportunities; are adaptable to change; have the desire to work with a wide variety of freight; want to take a hands-on approach to loading, unloading, and securing freight; and thrive in an environment where no two weeks are the same.
Flex drivers haul for a variety of customers but will only work for one account/customer at a time (a minimum of one week or until the customer's needs are met) then haul another dedicated customer's product. Freight ranges from auto parts to consumer goods to building materials! While you will primarily work within our dedicated driving division, you might also get a chance to work with our other divisions, including regional or local LTL deliveries. This not only gives you the ability to work in other areas here at Averitt, but it will also ensure your truck keeps moving while getting you home weekly.
The biggest perk? With our recent pay increase our flex driving positions are the highest paying! Experienced flex drivers can earn between 56-60 CPM and average $83,000 per year. There is a guaranteed minimum of $70,000 per year for experienced drivers. Our student and trainee driver pay has increased as well: students start out at 44 CPM with an increase to 56 CPM after one year; 58 CPM after 18 months; and 60 CPM after two years. Student/trainee drivers average $60,000-$65,000 per year. As an Averitt driver, you’ll also love our profit sharing, cash bonuses for referrals, home time, paid time off, assigned equipment, safe parking at our service centers and excellent health benefits..
Looking ahead to career growth? Our dedicated flex driving opportunities are an excellent way to learn different accounts and see where you might want to transfer next!
