AVERITT ASSOCIATES SHOW STRENGTH AND SOLIDARITY DURING NATIONAL CRISIS

Post Date - Apr 14, 2020

While we all continue to process news related to COVID-19 and adjust our behaviors, Averitt associates in all positions have shown amazing perseverance and commitment. We are so grateful to those driving professionals who have been able to remain on the job, keeping the wheels turning and the supply chain connected. At the same time, our hearts go out to those who have been negatively affected by the pandemic. Know that your Averitt family is thinking of you!

Wayne Spain with our leadership team shared a message to associates expressing our gratitude and encouraging everyone going forward.

“Thank you for all you’re doing. The transportation industry has always been the lifeblood of America. That is especially true right now. Together, we are answering the call. We recognize the difficulties you are facing, and we appreciate your dedication. Every day, we hear stories of associates stepping up in a special way to get the job done. We’re so proud of how our team is working together to keep America moving.”

With this health crisis, everyone has had to be more mindful than ever of thorough handwashing, social distancing and germ warfare. For Averitt driving associates (or those considering joining us), we want to assure you that we have taken aggressive steps to protect the health and welfare of our teammates. Since many drivers have very real concerns about using rest areas or truck stops, we are fortunate to offer our 100+ locations with the amenities and conveniences you need on the road. While our facilities have always been top-notch, we are taking extra precautions to have them thoroughly cleaned and disinfected frequently so you can feel more comfortable when you make your stop.

Other preventative steps we’re taking include ensuring no one who is symptomatic comes to the offices or facilities. Telecommuting has been implemented where possible. Associates are actively using social distancing practices in facilities and encouraged to use the same techniques in their personal lives. We are asking everyone to be attentive to good hygiene methods, as promoted by the CDC, and adhering to guidance stemming from the national emergency declaration. Plus, we’ve procured protective face masks to provide to more than 5,000 of our drivers and frontline associates. It is our hope that these and our additional actions will help keep everyone healthy.

Wayne noted that Averitt is uniquely suited to withstand challenging times, saying, “We’ve created a culture of flexibility, training, communication and responsiveness. We’ve built a team of experienced, knowledgeable and professional associates. These are advantages that separate us from other teams in the industry. Especially during times of crisis.”

He also reminds associates that we’re there for them in this time of crisis. “If there’s anything you need, please communicate with your leaders. We will do whatever we can to help our teammates during this time. You are not alone. We are here for you. Thank you for all you do. Please stay safe, take care of yourself. Stay positive and optimistic. Better days are ahead.”

Thank you, Averitt associates, for all you do. Remember: We’re strong, we’re resilient, we’re focused on the future. Take care of yourselves!
