Andrew Norton, a retired U.S. Navy serviceman, spent nine years hauling plumbing supplies until a large carrier took over his account and cut his miles. That’s when his friend and fellow driver encouraged him to make the switch to Averitt. 

Norton joined our Supply Chain Solutions team as a Flex Driver – a position that offers him a variety of routes and challenges, all with a dedicated schedule and generous pay. 

“Now that I’ve been at Averitt, I see how much better it is here than I ever had it before,” Norton said. “I didn’t know it could be this good, that there was a carrier who treated drivers so professionally.”

Biela spent 11 years as a truck driver for an independent company owned by his friend. He was spending months at a time on the road.

“I was well acquainted with the over-the-road, long-haul life,” he said. 

But eventually, Biela wanted to be closer to home. He began driving for our team, which allowed him to be home throughout the week and on the weekend. 

Within a few months, Biela earned a leadership position where he organized driver schedules and operations. A couple of years later, he became an operations leader. 

“When I say ‘Averitt offers career growth,’ it’s from a very personal perspective,” Biela said. “I have learned how to handle a variety of responsibilities for all kinds of positions from payroll to logistics to driver communications.”

Biela has been an operations leader for our Supply Chain Solutions team for the last five years. and he’s in it for the long haul.
